VERNER PANTON (1926-1998) originally wanted to be an artist, but his father was against it and as a compromise Verner Panton decided to become an architect and studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. However, before commencing his architectural training he started his working life as a traditional tradesman - a bricklayer - and in 1951 he qualified as an architect.
While studying he met architect Poul Henningsen (PH). This was the beginning of a life-long friendship between Panton and PH and also led to Panton being offered a job with the architect Arne Jacobsen, where he worked as an apprentice.

Verner Panton’s work combine originality and classic design to produce visual experiences. Outstanding beauty and sublime experiences often come from taking a simple, natural and direct approach to design – it is then products become art - and Verner Panton was a master. His designs are therefore much more than just original modern design. An object cannot become a design icon until it has stood the test of time and appears quite naturally in different settings, giving it a symbolic aura of its own. Panton’s designs simply inject life into every interior from the baroque to the minimalist!

Panton is still regarded as one of today’s key figures within second half of the 20th century design and today continues to be a major inspiration to current and next generation designer icons.

Verpan is - much like Verner Panton - a product of the Danish design tradition, which have put Denmark on the world map for functional, modern and unique design. Verpan is part of the FRANDSEN Group - a family owned and run lighting company - with a danish based headquarter.
In close collaboration with the Panton estate - especially widow Marianne Panton - Verpan has acquired the production and sales rights to a significant part of Verner Panton’s designs.

In 2003 the production of lighting was initiated and in 2010 a furniture range was added and a continious process of picking and choosing new products in the wast threasure cest of Panton work, will bring many more items to life yet again.
